There was a brief discussion about other up coming conventions and which ones people were throwing room parties at to promote Minicon. Mars Con is March1st-3rd and Kevin Austin is planning on throwing a party. Capricon is February 7th-10th and Larry Sanderson, Laura Jean Fish and Geri Sullivan will be throwing a party. Boscon is February 15th-17th and Geri Sullivan and Greg Ketter will be attending and I believe throwing a party. We also discussed World Fantasy which will be held in Mpls the weekend of October 31st. Greg Ketter is chairing this event. Greg Ketter announced that he will be designing and building new art show hangings for the World Fantasy convention and has decided that he will lease them out to other cons who wish to use them. He thought Minicon would be interested in leasing them due the deteriorating condition of our current ones. The copy for PR2 was nearly all turned in to David Schroth our Publications Head and will be turned over to Andrew Bertke for layout and design ASAP. We set a goal for a Sunday Jan. 6th mailing party at 2pm at Toad Hall the home of Geri Sullivan who has been so gracious to host these on short notice. The materials that will be needed were also discussed. A large supply of paper that Jeff Schalles has offered to go and purchase, stamps, mailing labels, and snacks to be purchased by Laura Jean Fish. In addition, we discussed contacting Raymond Van Tilburg with Off World Designs to make T-shirts for this years Minicon. We also raised the possibility of having our artist guest of honor Rick Berry provide the art work and gave asked Corwin Brust, Berry's liaison to contact him to see if he is interested and able to so. It was also thought a good idea to see if he wants to collaborate with Andrew Bertke on this years Badges. Department Heads checked in any new and or pertinent information. Lisa Frietag and Greg Ketter said that 15 hucksters have purchased tables thus far. Mike Von Maltzan head of programming has received numerous program suggestions and is in the process of coordinating panelist with programs and Guests of Honor. Head of parties Michael Burgess brought up the need to go check out the space for appropriate allocations which were are currently scheduling. Fred Levy Haskell who is on board with Larry Sanderson head of registration is helping maintain and update the database for registration. Registrations seem to have picked up slightly and are now similar to this time last year. This is of course according to the awesome graph Fred designed and brought to share with all of us visual learners. Last but not least next on our agenda was the need to start writing and collecting copy for this years program book. Committee members have been encouraged to begin now and turn in work by the 1st of February with a drop dead date of February 14th which is also the last pre registration day at the current rate. That's the news from Minicon where all the members are strange, all the children above average and everybody appreciates a good book. Writen by your Co-Chair Laura Jean Fish 1/10/02
